Subject: BRRR-illiant News About Recess! ❄️🌞

Dear SSES Families:

Winter is coming... but so is recess! 🌬️ As long as the temperature stays above 20 degrees (and yes, we mean Fahrenheit because we’re not that adventurous), our kids will be enjoying the great outdoors every single day. That’s right – your little snow adventurers will be soaking up all the fresh air they can, even if it’s in arctic-level conditions.

Here’s the thing: while we fully embrace outdoor play, shorts, t-shirts, and tank tops just don’t cut it in a tundra-like playground. (Unless, of course, your child is secretly training to become the next polar explorer, in which case... carry on.)

Here’s what we recommend for the winter recess runway:

  • Warm coats – The puffier, the better. Bonus points if it looks like they’ve been swallowed by a marshmallow.

  • Hats, gloves, and scarves – Let’s protect those little ears and fingers from freezing off during a snowball masterpiece.

  • Pants – Long pants, fleece-lined if possible, because bare knees and subzero wind chills are not a match made in heaven.

We are all about learning through experience, but frostbite isn’t quite the life lesson we are aiming for. If you could help us ensure your kids are dressed like they’re preparing for a ski trip (and not a beach vacation), we would be forever grateful.

Let’s make this winter recess season as fun – and as frostbite-free – as possible! Thank you for your cooperation, and stay warm out there.

Sincerely,
