Dear SSES Families:
We are excited to announce that our annual Turkey Trot will take place on Monday, November 10th, from 2:15–2:45 PM. This fun tradition not only brings our school community together but also supports the wonderful work of the Easton Senior Center.
As part of the Turkey Trot, we invite families to contribute to the Thanksgiving Food Baskets for the Needy program. Together with the National Charities League, Speech Academy, and Samuel Staples Elementary School, the Easton Senior Center will be collecting nonperishable Thanksgiving dinner items to help provide meals for 125 families in need.
ITEMS NEEDED
Cranberry sauce
Pie mix or filling
Canned vegetables
Pie crust
Gravy mix or canned gravy
Evaporated milk
Instant or canned potatoes or canned sweet potatoes
Brownie or cake mix
Stuffing mix
Cornbread mix
Grocery gift certificates
Cash or check to purchase turkeys
Note: Please check the expiration dates on your food donations. Expired food cannot be included and will be discarded.
On this fun Friday afternoon, students will walk by homeroom class out to the Turkey Trot, carrying their food donation. Their “ticket to trot” will be the nonperishable food item. As food is placed in boxes, Pre-K–Grade 2 students will be directed to the lower field to trot with their teachers, while Grade 3–5 students will head to the upper field.
SSES parent volunteers will collect all donations and deliver them to the Easton Senior Center.
Thank you in advance for your support with this worthy cause. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Turkey Trot!
Sincerely,
Kimberly Fox Santora
